Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know before you Get Dam Lost. Tap a question to see the answer.
Booking & pricing
How much does a hunt cost, and what's included?+
Each hunt is €35 per player. That gets you full access to the hunt through the Scavify app — all the clues, challenges, photo tasks and scoring. You just bring a charged phone and some spending money for any food or drinks you fancy along the way (those are optional).
What's the minimum and maximum group size?+
Teams are a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 5 players. If you're on your own and still want to join, see the solo-traveller question below — we'll do our best to pair you up.
Can I add or remove players after booking?+
Yes, within reason and subject to our team-size limits. Additional players are charged at the current per-player rate, and refunds for removed players are only available where the cancellation qualifies under our Refund & Cancellation Policy. Get in touch and we'll sort it out.
Do you offer group or corporate rates?+
We do — for team-building days, birthdays and bigger celebrations we offer custom times and group sizes. Drop us a line at ashley@urbansnaphunt.com and tell us what you're planning.
Is there a gift voucher option?+
Get in touch at ashley@urbansnaphunt.com and we'll help you arrange one. Gift vouchers are non-refundable, can't be exchanged for cash, and are valid for the period stated at purchase.
Before the hunt
What do I need to bring?+
Just yourself, a good attitude, and a charged phone you can use without WiFi. We also recommend bringing some spending money (around €20) if you'd like to try food or drinks along the way — but nothing is required.
Do I need cellular service to do the hunt?+
Yes! You need to be able to use your phone out in the wild — not connected to WiFi. However, not every player needs to be on the app. At least one player does, but others can opt out if they'd like. Pictures will still be available to everyone.
Do I need to download anything in advance?+
Yes — download the free Scavify app about 30 minutes before your hunt starts, enter your code, and you're ready to go. You'll find it on both the iOS App Store and Google Play.
What happens if it rains?+
As the Dutch say, you're not made of sugar! Daily life in Amsterdam continues rain or shine, and so does UrbanSnapHunt. Grab a cheap rain poncho and have a great time.
Is this suitable for kids and families?+
For Get Dam Lost, you must be at least 18. If you're under 18 but accompanied by an adult over 21, we're OK with any age. Some tasks lean a little cheeky, so it's built with grown-ups in mind.
Do I need to speak Dutch?+
Nope! All hunts are run in English. That said, if you know a little Dutch, every local loves to hear visitors giving it a go.
During the hunt
How long does it take, and can we pause?+
Plan for roughly 3–4 hours. It's self-guided, so you set the pace and can take breaks whenever you like.
How can we get around the city?+
On foot, by bus, tram or public transport — but no Ubers. We highly recommend not biking unless you're experienced in Amsterdam traffic. Either way, you're responsible for your own safety on the hunt.
Do I have to drink alcohol or smoke weed to take part?+
Absolutely not! While some tasks might involve it, we very much welcome our sober sisters and brothers. No pressure at all.
Can I drink on the streets during the hunt?+
Mostly yes — but please be sensible about it, and be careful. There are areas where it's not allowed (for example, the Red Light District), so watch for signs, stay inconspicuous, and if you're not sure, ask.
Will I spend money on the hunt?+
Potentially. Some tasks encourage you to try different foods or drinks, but nothing is required. For the best experience, we recommend bringing around €20 of spending money.
If we don't reach the last bar in time, are we disqualified?+
No, it's not that serious! But for the sake of the competition, you'll lose 10 points. Sorry, babes!
What if my phone dies or loses signal mid-hunt?+
Come with a fully charged phone, since the hunt runs entirely on it. If you lose signal or your battery dies, the app can't track your progress — so a power bank is a smart backup. We're not responsible for interruptions caused by your own device or mobile network.
Playing solo
What if I don't have a team but still want to join?+
No worries — the founders of UrbanSnapHunt are big advocates for solo travellers. Just send us a private message and we'll do our best to connect you with another team. No guarantees, of course, but we'll try!
Cancellations & changes
Can I cancel or reschedule my booking?+
Yes. Cancel more than 72 hours before your start time for a full refund. Between 24 and 72 hours, you can choose a 50% refund or a one-time reschedule. Under 24 hours, bookings are non-refundable. Full details are in our Refund & Cancellation Policy.
What if I don't show up?+
No-shows without prior notice aren't eligible for a refund or credit. If something's come up, get in touch as early as you can and we'll see what we can do.
What if UrbanSnapHunt has to cancel?+
If we cancel for reasons like severe weather, safety concerns or circumstances beyond our control, you can choose either a full refund or a free reschedule to another available date.
Safety & logistics
Am I responsible for my own conduct on the hunt?+
Yes — 100%. We expect everyone to behave like the good humans you are while exploring our amazing city. You are liable for anything that happens to you on your hunt, so please read your Terms & Conditions and Liability Waiver. Be safe, and have fun!
Is it safe? Do I need a guide?+
The hunt is self-guided — there's no guide walking with you. It takes place in public areas of Amsterdam, and you're responsible for your own safety: obey traffic laws, watch for cyclists and trams, respect people and property, and use common sense near the canals.
What if a stop is closed or under construction?+
It happens — cities change day to day. We can't guarantee every location or challenge is accessible at all times, but the hunt is designed with flexibility so you can keep going. If something's clearly blocked, just move on to the next.
How do I contact you if something goes wrong on the day?+
You'll have us reachable through the app, plus phone numbers, if you need anything during your hunt. You can also reach us any time at ashley@urbansnaphunt.com.
